NENANA BIBLE CHURCH STATEMENT OF FAITH

Statement of Basic Beliefs
A. The Bible in the original manuscripts is the inspired word of God and is infallible and inerrant; it is sufficient for all areas of faith and life. (2 Peter 1:19-21, 2 Timothy 3:16-17).
B. God is one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Isaiah46:9, Matthew 3:16-17, Matthew 28:19-20, 2 Corinthians 13:14)
C. God is sovereign in creation, revelation, redemption, and final judgment. (Romans 9:20-21; John 1:3)
D. Jesus Christ, being fully God and fully man, was begotten of the Holy Spirit and was born of the virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life; He died for our sins as a substitutionary sacrifice; He rose bodily from the grave; and He will physically return to earth to establish His kingdom. (Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 53:4-7, Matthew 1:18-25, Mark 16:6, Luke 1:35, Luke 24:2-6, John 1:1-5, John 3:16, Acts 1:9-11, Romans 3:25, Romans 5:8, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, Hebrews 4:15)
E. The Holy Spirit instructs, convicts of sin, comforts, and empowers believers to live the Christian life. The believer is indwelt with the Holy Spirit at the time of salvation. (Acts 2:38, John 14:15-18, Galatians 4:6)
F. Man was created in the image and likeness of God. However, in Adam’s sin, the human race fell, incurring physical and spiritual separation from God, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God. Therefore, all mankind is born under the bondage of sin and with a sinful nature and needs redemption. (Genesis 1:26-27, Romans 3:9-23, Romans 5:12, Ephesians 2:1-3)
G. Salvation is by grace through faith in the redeeming death of Jesus Christ, not of works of our own; all who have placed their trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are born again, indwelt by the Holy Spirit, adopted into the family of God, and are eternally secure in their salvation. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Acts 13:38-39, Isaiah 53:11, Romans 5:9, Romans 8:1, John 10:28-29, John 5:24, Romans 8:35-39, Philippians 1:6)
